KCRW and the Fowler Museum are hosting a free, all-ages party this Saturday, May 22, at the museum, featuring KCRW DJs, an interactive art experience and several food trucks, including Calbi BBQ, the Grilled Cheese Truck, Let’s Be Frank and the Gastrobus. The event celebrates Nick Cave‘s exhibit, “Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth,” which features the artist’s Soundsuits, 10-foot-tall, multilayered, mixed-media suits extraordinarily decorated with ordinary items from everyday life. The materials create unusual sounds when the suits are worn and performed, hence the name “Soundsuits.”
KCRW Music Director and Morning Becomes Eclectic host Jason Bentley and nighttime DJ Garth Trinidad will spin some music throughout the night, which starts at 8 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. The “Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth” exhibit is on display until May 30.
