Martina Topley Bird will be the special guest vocalist performing with Massive Attack on the band’s first-ever U.S. TV appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live this Friday, May 21. If you missed out on the Wiltern shows, fans can attend the mini-outdoor concert for free by clicking here.
Martina Topley Bird is also opening up for Massive Attack on the band’s first North American tour since 2006. As the opener, she’ll perform songs in support of her last album, The Blue God, which was produced by Danger Mouse. She’ll also give the audience a taste of songs from her upcoming album, Someplace Simple. Her new album is commissioned by Damon Albarn, who signed up for the task after seeing her live show in support of Massive Attack. She also joins Massive Attack on stage during the tour for a selection of songs, including “Babel,” “Psyche,” “Invade Me,” “Teardrop” and plays keyboards on “Splitting the Atom.”
Martina and Massive Attack kicked off their Los Angeles dates last night to an enthusiastic sold-out crowd. There are two sold-out shows remaining at the Wiltern tonight, May 19, and Thursday, May 20. The Scenestar will be on hand for an exclusive interview with Martina before tomorrow night’s performance. We’re looking forward to bringing you a solid write up and photos.
