Ennio Sorry movie score fans if you had plans this Sunday, October 25th to catch film composer Ennio Morricone at the Hollywood Bowl. According to the Hollywood Bowl website, the concert has been cancelled. No official reason has been given although it did have trouble selling tickets especially when the show had direct competition against U2 that same day.

Ennio Morricone's concert was to consist of scores from movies he's conducted such as "Cinema Paradiso", "A Fistful of Dollars", "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", "The Mission", "Once Upon a Time in America", and "The Untouchables" along with other works. We hope Ennio Morricone reschedules soon and plans to come back to Los Angeles soon. For those who did have tickets, refunds are available at point of purchase.

This is a sad commentary on American musical taste, tickets to see one of the premier composers of our time going unsold. I can’t believe the same demographic for U2 stole potential attendees for Maestro Morricone. Maybe there’s another reason.
It seems Morricone is at least still well, for which I am thankful.

Yes, they did have trouble selling tickets. They even had tickets at 50% off on Goldstar! I wanted to go to this show but I had already purchased U2 tickets back in March. The organizers could have maybe done it Saturday instead knowing that a 100K attendance show goes on the same day and maybe price it a bit more reasonably. If it was any other day, I would have gone to see him at the Bowl. It’s very sad because he’s already 81 and not guaranteed he’ll be back. =(

I too was at U2 (having purchased tickets 6 months prior…) though would have gone to Ennio on any other day. Ennio’s promoters are plain dumb.
Any news on a more sensible Ennio concert date here in LA?
