Okkervil River has announced a live album series A Dream in the Dark: Two Decades of Okkervil River Live, and will be back on tour to play some of your favorite tracks at intimate venues. Of the release, Will Sheff wrote via Facebook: “A Dream in the Dark: Two Decades of Okkervil River Live,” tells the story of Okkervil River’s 21-year existence through 12 live albums released digitally once a month for a year. Each album comes with comprehensive liner notes featuring new essays, journal entries, interviews, archival photos and more. Subscribers to the series will also get really cool physical rewards, early access to pre-sale tickets for our 2019 “Rarities & Requests” tour (and a guaranteed request on that tour), and more! I’ve been working on this project for quite some time and I’m beyond thrilled to finally let the cat out of the bag. The first show we’re making available is us with a live string and brass section and backup singers which was multi-track recorded in 2007, immediately as we finished “The Stage Names.” At the top of every month, we’ll be adding a new album, jumping back and forth thru time. It’s gonna be so so great. Come aboard!"
For live shows, the band has scheduled an upcoming tour date at the Troubadour on Friday, June 28, with Christian Lee Hutson. Tickets for these shows will go on sale via Ticketfly this Friday, April 5, at 10 a.m. for $25 each plus service fees. Click below to purchase your tickets to see Okkervil River this summer.
