Prophets of Rage released this video called "The Ballot or The Bullet" in time for midterm election day. The clip is named after Malcolm X’s famous 1964 speech about black voter rights, it's a mashup of three of their unreleased tracks plus their latest single “Heart Afire.” The video includes Malcolm X’s speech, NRA protests, photos from the civil rights movement, and other imagery akin to the aforementioned.
Prophets of Rage is the supergroup with Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk (the three are also in Audioslave), Public Enemy’s Chuck D and DJ Lord, and Cypress Hill’s B-Real.
From Prophets of Rage: "There are people trying to keep many of us from being able to vote. Don't squander the rights we've fought so hard to get. Agitate, organize, resist, & rebel. Before, during, & after election day. In the words of Malcolm X, 'It's got to be the ballot or the bullet.'"
The ballot or the bullet is a sentiment far too real for POC in today's America.
