David Byrne has released a new music video for “Everybody’s Coming to My House,” which he explains is a collaboration with the Detroit School of Arts. He writes: “A few weeks ago Eric Welles-Nyström of Luaka Bop came to me with an idea—what if we invited local artists in what are sometimes overlooked and underestimated cities to create videos based around the songs on my new record? It would be a project that might give the creativity tucked away in so many corners a chance to be seen and heard. The Detroit School of Arts Vocal Jazz Ensemble’s interpretation of “Everybody’s Coming to My House” is transformative. To my eyes and ears it completely changes the meaning, heart and soul of the song. It is more welcoming and becomes more about inclusion and joy. We ARE all in the same house—if we want to be. I’m jealous, in some ways it’s better than my own version.” Check it out above.
As reported earlier, in addition to performing at Coachella 2018, David Byrne also has an American Utopia tour date at the Shrine Auditorium on Saturday, August 25, with special guest Ibeyi. Tickets for this show are on sale now via AXS. And, as announced earlier, the Talking Heads singer has a show at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Friday, August 24. Tickets are on sale now via AXS for $49.50 to $204.50 each plus service fees.
