One of our favorite local music festivals will go on hiatus this year: Make Music Pasadena has announced that it will not host its free event in Pasadena. The festival wrote via Facebook: “After nine years of bringing free music to the streets of our city with Make Music Pasadena, Old Pasadena Management District and the Playhouse District Association, co-producers of the festival, have made the difficult decision to put the event on hiatus for 2017 and to evaluate its future viability.” The festival cited a $150,000 budget deficit as well as the “challenge to secure both talent and local media attention within a limited budget” as other reasons for the decision.

Make Music Pasadena did state “that sufficient sponsorship might be achieved for a 2018 event.” Click here or on the image below to read the full statement.

Last year’s lineup included Atlas Genius, Bear Hands, The Mowgli’s, Small Black, PAPA, and James Supercave, among others.

For now, we’d like to thank Make Music Pasadena for the memories and for bringing live music to the city of Pasadena.
