Fred Armisen has announced via Instagram that he will perform at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse on Thursday, July 7, for his IFC series Documentary Now. He writes: Hi! We are performing as a fake band this Thursday for an episode of Documentary Now. Anyone in the LA area who wants to attend, don’t worry too much about dressing completely 80’s. These would be fans of art rock as well as new wave. Maybe some of those little plastic cameras with flash? Also, we might do the whole set twice. #testpattern

The event will be for an episode entitled “Stop Making Sense,” a reference to the Talking Heads documentary of the same name that was directed by Jonathan Demme. The hashtag #testpattern refers to the fake band, which features Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, and Maya Rudolph. The show is 18+ and FREE for the first 200 people. Also, 1980s attire will get you the best seats!
