Brandon Flowers The Troubadour 2015

BY CRISTINE MCCLURE

APRIL 14 | WEST HOLLYWOOD—Tonight The Killers' frontman Brandon Flowers played a sold-out show at West Hollywood's Troubadour in support of his sophomore solo album The Desired Effect, which will be released May 19.

Clad in black with a shiny gold-and-black jacket, Flowers was greeted by the loud cheers and screams of fans who packed the house. He turned in an emotion-filled 16-song, 1-hour-plus set, mixing a few Killers hits with tracks from his debut solo album Flamingo, such as "Crossfire" and "Only the Young," and tracks from his upcoming LP, including "Can't Deny My Love" and "Still Want You." His energy throughout the show was infectious, and he engaged the crowd as he sang, gesticulating, pointing, and smiling. In turn, the crowd sang along, their voices filling the venue and hands punching the air in unison with Flowers. "It feels good!" he exclaimed, thanking fans for making him feel at home.

Upon introducing his cover of INXS' "Don't Change," Flowers, who was "feeling chatty," declared his love for the band and described how, when he was a kid at a carnival, he won a Kick poster, the first band poster he had on his wall. He also introduced "Human," explaining how the song had come to be with producer Stuart Price, who was in the audience. The encore ended with a rousing sing-along of "Mr. Brightside."
