If you’ve been to any concert in Los Angeles over the years, you surely have spotted our colleague Andrew Youssef, AKA Amateur Chemist, capturing the concert moments with his camera. Shooting for his blog Amateur Chemist, as well as the O.C. Weekly, Stereogum, and other numerous publications, he has been a staple in the photo pit—along with being a great guy to work with. Unfortunately, Andrew Youssef was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer three years ago, which has limited his ability to cover the music scene.
Since sharing his fight with cancer, Andrew has received emotional support from Trent Reznor and others in the music community. In addition, Nine Inch Nails fans have created a Facebook group to help the Youssef family pay for his mounting medical bills. You can also help via PayPal, with procceds going to the Youssef family. You can also join the Facebook group “NIN Fans For Andrew Youssef” to share some words of support for Andrew as he continues his fight with colon cancer.
