One of our favorite local public radio stations, KCRW, is asking for your help! KCRW will host its Winter Membership Drive from Thursday, Jan. 31, to Friday, Feb. 8. If you would like to help answer phones and more during the drive, KCRW is currently accepting volunteers online.
Volunteering at KCRW involves answering phones at the radio station’s pledge room, located in the basement studio—and it’s easy to do! KCRW has a 20-minute online orientation slide show, so you can learn beforehand how to use the pledge system. Every year, we volunteer, and as a result, we have made many new friends, enjoyed great food donated by local restaurants, won prizes, and met some of our favorite KCRW DJs.
During the drive, people call in to pledge their support and get premiums and win prizes. The Scenestar supports KCRW for its vision and freedom to play great new music. In fact, KCRW is usually the first to play the new bands you grow to love, and it sponsors a lot of great shows here in Los Angeles.
If you can’t volunteer, tune in to 89.9 FM locally or stream live online at KCRW.com during the Winter 2013 Membership Drive, and make a pledge of any amount. If you can volunteer, click below, and we’ll see you there early next year, Scenestar readers!
