Today marks the 52nd birthday of one of The Scenestar’s favorite musicians: Steven Patrick Morrissey, singer of The Smiths and current solo artist!
Born May 22, 1959, in Davyhulme, Manchester, Morrissey is best known for his smart, witty lyrics, staunch vegetarianism (Meat Is Murder) and impressive pompadour.
To celebrate the musician’s “unhappy” birthday, Smiths/Morrissey tribute band Sweet and Tender Hooligans will perform an all-ages show at the House of Blues Hollywood. Opening for them will be The Cure tribute band, The Curse. Tickets will also be set aside for sale at the door for $19.00. At this time Morrissey has no local dates here in Los Angeles, but has European tour dates scheduled in July.
And to further reflect on Moz’s birthday, here’s his perspective on being older and wiser: Age gives you a great sense of proportion. You can be very hard on yourself when you’re younger, but now I just think, ‘Well, everybody’s absolutely mad and I’m doing quite well.’ Happy Birthday Morrissey!
