Erykah Badu Birthday Show At House of Blues

ErykahBadu Erykah Badu is celebrating her birthday with us in Los Angeles! If you missed out on tickets to see Erykah Badu play in April at this year’s Coachella Music & Arts Festival on Saturday, April 16, you can celebrate another year of life with her on Thursday, Feb. 24 at House of Blues Sunset Strip along with Biz Markie! This is the only scheduled local Erykah Badu tour date before her appearance at the Empire Polo Club in April.

    We were at the Erykah Badu House of Blues Birthday show the other night. Doors opened at 7:30 and she didn’t even make an appearance on stage until 11:30 when the crowd began booing Biz Markie who along with several other talented musicians were left trying to soothe an irritated crowd.
    I’m sorry but if you place an artists name on the top of the billing there is an implied understanding that said artist will be performing. When Erykah finally hit the stage at 11:30 she didn’t even sing. She left after a couple of minutes and we left right after that. I don’t know if she ever sang one note but the crowd was visibly pissed and tense. As we left security were dealing with an angry guy who knocked over a standing heat lamp and other HOB security were obviously preparing for the worst.
    This is the second and last time we’ve seen Ms. Badu and although she posseses crazy talent she has no respect for her fans or fellow musicians. We saw her at the Greek Theater in LA 2 years ago and she didn’t show up until 9.30. For those of you that know the Greek they have a strict policy to shut down at 10:30 due to the residential neighborhood. Erykah didn’t seem to understand that and tried to play on to no avail. The house lights came up and the crowd left dissapointed.
    Get your shit together girl because talent is only one part of the
    game.
