Last night Scenestar photographer Anthony Chiapetta and I witnessed quite the scene when frustration hit Damon Gough AKA Badly Drawn Boy last night (December, 16, 2010) at the Troubadour. Due to issues with the onstage monitors and sound issues in the venue, Badly Drawn Boy let frustrations take over and took it out on his last set of 2010 as well as the audience at the Troubadour as those of you following us on Twitter found out in real time. It included Badly Drawn Boy leaving the stage after four songs only to return later to try and finish the show. This video taken by Anthony Chiapetta yesterday night after Badly Drawn Boy returned to the stage declaring that he wants to quit music and open up a small business instead. The clip doesn't tell the whole story behind the rollercoaster of a show and we will have a full review including photos Monday here at The Scenestar.

Badly Drawn Boy is a whiny bitch. He could have capitalized on his Bewilderbeast and About a Boy successes, but episodes such as this (not the 1st time) brought him down.
Go home, BDB. You’re washed up.

I stayed through the end (partly because I was up front and didn’t want to be cussed out for walking away.) Wow, what an uncomfortable night. Total train wreck. Is this sort of behavior supposed to keep a fan base intact? No. People were pretty supportive initially, but when he got angry at people for telling me he sounded GOOD, well that’s when it hit the fan. The Troubadour is not issuing refunds, by the way, because Badly Drawn Boy apparently met his contractual obligations. Okaaaay… How about the fact that we did not really get a true concert – just a full on, unbearable whine fest? A total waste of time and money.

i think he just needs to chill the fuck out, grow a pair, understand that a crowd can enjoy a show without jumping up and down, do NOT ask for requests and…put on a better show. the entire crowd was into it on wednesday- in an LA way. but in a typical british cynical manner, he took this to mean we weren’t into it. he was wrong. LA is a hard crowd to win over- we see everything, so in order for us to go crazy, you better get crazy-good. bdb didn’t bring anything crazy-good. he’s just fucking good. nick drake-ish singer song writer post-modern folk music kinds of good. does anyone go wild for that shit? i dont think so…we just want to get stoned and listen to some blissed out shit. so damon, just do your thing, have fun but don’t expect an LA crowd to go apeshit unless you go 12 kinds of apeshit. (and i’ve seen 12 kinds of ape shit.)
