There’s nothing more that we love here at The Scenestar than a great show coming to town, but when there isn’t one, we love to take a break and catch a movie or two. Lucky for us, the upcoming Los Angeles Film Festival gives us a chance to combine both! The Los Angeles Film Festival will take place on June 17-27 in downtown Los Angeles, moving east from its previous location in Westwood.
A Scenestar favorite has always been the Eclectic Mix music video series, which in 2010 features Bob Dylan, Cornelius, Fan Death, Fever Ray, The Fiery Furnaces, Grizzly Bear, Major Lazer, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more, along with Big in Japan: A Selection of Japanese Music Videos. There are always some interesting, musically-themed films at the festival, such as Ain’t in It for My Health: A Film About Levon Helm, Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone, The Life of Richard Wagner, Separado!, Thundersoul and more. Also, for the budget-conscious lover of music and film, there’s even a free screening of Desperately Seeking Susan!
These are just a few of the music-based films and music videos that you can find at the Los Angeles Film Festival, so be sure to check out the complete line-up of movies to find some other films that might catch your interest. Festival passes are available now, but tickets for individual screenings don’t go on sale until Tuesday, June 1, at 10 a.m. If you’re an AMEX cardholder, however, you can buy tickets today. For those Scenestar readers who feel lucky, you can enter a contest for a chance to win tickets to a screening. To enter to win, send your full name and contact info to oscar@thescenestar.com before Friday, June 4. Good luck, and we hope to share some popcorn with you at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June!
