According to the Los Angeles Times, Rhino Records will open a pop-up store near its former location in Westwood for two weeks. Richard Foos opened the legendary record store in 1973, named after the record label of the same name. The store closed in January 2006.
For those who are nostalgic for Rhino Records, the store will reopen at 1740 Westwood Blvd., a few doors down from its original location, from May 17-30. The store is expected to offer more than 100,000 items collected by Foos and his industry friends.
All proceeds will benefit Chrysalis Enterprises, an L.A.-based non-profit that helps thousands of people transition out of poverty.
The store will also host a series of events, including a screening of Nirvana’s 1989 performance at the Rhino store, “No Autographs, No Encores,” on opening day, May 17. There also will be several in-store performances. For full details, visit the Rhino Records Pop-Up Store Facebook page.
This is your chance to bid a final farewell to Rhino Records and at the same time, help out a great cause.
