Supergrass has called it quits. After 17 years and six albums, the Oxford band has broken up due to “musical differences.” Supergrass writes, “Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years. We still love each other but—cliché notwithstanding—musical differences have led to us moving on and of course we all wish each other well in the future.” The band was working on latest album Release the Drones, which was scheduled for release early next year from Cooking Vinyl. The status of that release is unknown, but 2008’s Diamond Hoo Ha could very well be Supergrass‘ last album.
The band has scheduled some farewell performances in Europe, with a June 11 date in Paris being Supergrass‘ last concert ever.
