Sad news in the music world again Scenestar readers. The legendary Alex Chilton has apparently suffered a heart attack and has passed away at age 59 according to the Commercial Appeal of Memphis. Alex Chilton, member of the Box Tops in the 1960s and Big Star in the 1970s, has died today in a hospital in New Orleans after being taken to the emergency room after complaining about his health. He was pronounced dead at the hospital and his passing has been confirmed by bandmate Jody Stephens. A reunited Big Star was scheduled to perform with Alex Chilton at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin this Saturday. Rest in peace Alex Chilton and thank you for your music.
