Sad news over the Christmas break Scenestar readers. Athen, Georgia's Vic Chesnutt passed away at age 45 on Friday, December 25th on Christmas afternoon as confirmed by his label Constellation Records. Vic Chesnutt recently played in Los Angeles at the EchoPlex on December 1st in one of his last shows before his passing in support of his last albums At The Cut and Skitter On Take-Off.
According to Constellation Records, a memorial service for Vic Chesnutt will take place today between 3pm – 6pm at Bridges Funeral Home today on Sunday, December 27, 2009, from 3:00-6:00 pm EST. Following the memorial service, family and friends invite guests to join them at Cine. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the non-profit hospital, Shepherd Center, located at 2020 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA, 30309 or low cost musician counseling center, Nuci’s Space, at 396 Oconee Street, Athens, GA 30601 in Vic Chesnutt's memory. A tribute to Vic Chesnutt will be held at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia, will be held some time in the near future. A private interment ceremony will be held later in Pike County, Zebulon, GA.
