Hardsummer

Yes, the news is true. Hard Summer 2009 was shut down tonight around 11:30pm. Due to security and safety issues, the City of Inglewood felt that the event needed to end before the crowd got more out of control. The decision was made about an hour before the official announcement allowing Inglewood riot police to get ready inside and out of the venue should there be any violent reaction by the angry attendees.

Only Busy P and Crystal Castles got a chance to perform while the confused crowd waited for Chromeo to come on. The safety concerns started when impatient attendees were breaking into the entrance to get into the venue due to long waits by the security check and inside the Forum from people not wanting to wait to get in line to get into the floor and jumping over the seats down into the floor hurting themselves or others in the process. The Fire Marshall got together with law enforcement backstage at the event and decided that the crowd would be to hard to control once the music started again. Trust us as we too at The Scenestar were saddened as to how it went down and were excited about covering Hard Summer 2009 as we interviewed Karl Hyde from Underworld leading up to what was to be the dance event of 2009. The Scenestar will update you concerning news regarding Hard Summer 2009 or if Underworld reschedules as we get it. The Hard Festival organizers mentioned on Twitter that they will be making it up to Los Angeles and will refund concertgoers. I wasn’t there but it is clear the promoter made a series of mistakes and most of the blame should fall on them. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE IDIOTS WHO KEPT JUMPING DOWN EVEN WHILE THE GUY WITH THE MIC WAS TELLING THE CROWD THE FIRE MARSHALL’S ORDERS? sometimes when you call bullshit you lose.

I had the good fortune of working hardfest- everthing was poorly organized, there too many people, and too few security- no one knew where the underground stage was or how to get to main floor. The all important outdoor was missing ( an outdoor stage would of stopped the forum from overflowing for outdoor stages can safely hold hold thousands). The crowd was rowdy as hell and and tons of people got in free by rushing gates. The music and entry point were suddenly shut down with no explanation, no one knew if the event was going to continue or not, and everyone sat and stood around like morons for and hour and a half completely clueless as to was to why the event was TRUELY being shut down, and who was TRUELY in charge, or the possibility of a refund to the attendees. Absolute catastraphe.

Oh yeah, and no one paid attention to the speaker telling everyone to clear the first 5 rows- had people listen the show would have gone on a while longer.

it’s kind of hard to pay attention to someone who calls you douchbags while asking you to move 5 rows..the lack of respect from the promoter is what is pissing me off..Have you noticed that they have not apologized once, not in any of thier so called statements.

Brian’s right. No apologies by HARD. Boo.
@Jarvis- this event had CSC (I think) run security- the same people who did EDC this year. Which, I felt, went great. I think axl was right that outdoor stage would’ve helped a ton. I personally had a heck of a time getting underground (45+ mins, had to find a supervisor to tell me correctly). No signs! Tards. I really loved the sick electro line-up of this event but right now, I really, really, really don’t see myself ever going to another HARD event unless something big changes. Sad.
