UPDATE: In addition to an upcoming DVD release, The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach has announced he will release a solo debut early next year. Entitled Keep It Hid, the 14-track album will be released Feb. 10 via Nonesuch. Auerbach will then embark on an 11-date solo tour, including a March 14 date at the El Rey Theatre. Texas-based Hacienda will be his backing band as well as the opening act. Tickets for the El Rey show go on sale Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. and cost $20.

Regarding the solo album, Auerbach says, “It’s all over the map. I write songs for the Black Keys, so some of them sound like they could be Black Keys songs. But some songs are just acoustic guitar. There’s some real dark tunes and some psychedelic rumbas. It’s all that stuff I grew up playing—all those bluegrass harmonies. I experimented a little bit with instrumentation.”
