UPDATE: Looks like several bands are readying new albums for the end of this year. Snow Patrol will release fifth album A Hundred Million Suns on October 28, with the first single being “Take Back the City.” But in a music first, the band will release the album in conjunction with an iPhone and iPod Touch application. According to NME.com, Suns will be the first to utilize the multimedia capacities of iPhones. Fans can download the application and access bonus content such as artwork, behind-the-scenes images and lyrics.
Snow Patrol product manager Liz Goodwin said, “It will be an interactive element; a digital booklet that will take you into the videos and content.”
The album was recorded this summer at Grouse Lodge in Ireland and Hansa Studios in Berlin. Singer Gary Lightbody says of Suns, “I’m so proud of this record. Everybody played out of their skin. Garret (Jacknife Lee) continued his progression from maverick genius to one of the best producers in the world. Musically, lyrically and sonically the best record we’ve made.”
