Good news for fans of Idlewild frontman Roddy Woomble. Roddy has completed his second solo album, Before the Ruin, the follow-up to 2006’s My Secret is My Silence.
Before the Ruin, which was written and recorded with Kris Drever and John Cusker, will be released Sept. 15 on Navigator Records. No word on a stateside release, but there’s always digital downloads! Roddy has scheduled a London concert in support of the new album but no U.S. dates are on the horizon.
Additionally, Idlewild fans can all look forward to the band’s seventh album, which the members are currently working on. The Scottish band was recently rumored to be on the verge of splitting up following their best of album release, which Roddy has flatly denied.
He wrote via his blog: The reality is that there’s nothing the five of us like doing more than writing songs together and performing them. Our records might not sell as many copies as they used to (although they do sell well still) but I don’t think that’s because they aren’t as good. I’m of the opinion that we’re getting better at describing ourselves, and writing more interesting songs the longer we go on. So no, we’re not ‘splitting up’.
