Cure

Though Cure fans will have to keep waiting for any news (or release date) on the follow-up to 2004’s self-titled release, there will be a chance to see the band in concert later this year.

The Cure’s Robert Smith has announced the band will headline the San Francisco Download Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheatre on October 6. Other acts on the bill include AFI, Kings of Leon and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

“We are really excited to be performing at the Download Festival in San Francisco—our only North American festival date of the summer. We particularly love the proposed ‘interactive’ elements of this event—they will undoubtedly add a whole new dimension to the show,” said Smith.

Now in its fifth year, the Download Festival offers music fans the opportunity to interact with the featured musicians, including Q&A sessions, autograph signings and a digital photo booth.

Tickets will be available July 22 at Live Nation and range from $35 to $65. A presale starts July 18 at 10am and ends July 20 at 10pm.

The Cure also is planning a headlining North American tour but has yet to announce the dates.

I keep hearing Roberto Panza Loca didn’t cancel this tour date on KCRW. I wonder if there’s any truth to that… Maybe he cancelled their solo shows so he can go see Morrissey the 10 nights at the Palladium!
