Fans who were hoping to see legendary ’80s English band Culture Club this week will be disappointed to hear that the group’s upcoming North American tour has been canceled. Boy George wrote via Facebook that a polyp has been found on one of his vocal chords, and it is hemorrhaging. The singer wrote: I HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY DOCTORS THAT TO CONTINUE SINGING WITH THIS POLYP WOULD FURTHER DAMAGE MY VOICE AND COULD CAUSE IRREPARABLE DAMAGE, IT’S A RISK I JUST CANNOT TAKE.
The canceled tour dates include the show at the Shrine Auditorium on Wednesday, November 19. Hopefully the original Culture Club band members—Mikey Craig, Roy Hay, Jon Moss, and Boy George—will announce a new tour soon. Refunds for tickets should be available via Ticketmaster or your original point of purchase. We’ll keep you posted when Culture Club announces rescheduled dates, Scenestar readers!
