The Hammer Museum kicked off 2009’s free Also I Like to Rock series this past Thursday night with buzz worthy bands (and Shangri-La Music label mates) Amazing Baby and Band of Skulls. Plenty of eager fans arrived early for the concert, so many in fact that museum staff told “latecomers” the event reached capacity before the first band, Dazzler, even took the stage.
Those fortunate enough to make it inside were treated to fierce performances by all bands on the bill. Amazing Baby’s visibly passionate playing proved they were an excellent choice for a headliner. And to demonstrate their affinity for theatrics, numerous fog machines helped to envelop the band (and the first few rows of the crowd) in a cloud of white for most of the set.
The Also I Like to Rock series will continue for the next three Thursday evenings at 8 p.m. If the first event was any indication, make plans to arrive early!
